Photography
I’ve always loved taking photos. Who doesn’t? But I didn’t get serious about it until I realized that photography was a vital part of documenting and preserving roadside culture. I bought my first real camera in 1991, a Nikon SLR with a couple of nice lenses. My favorite ammunition for it was Fugi Velvia 50 slide film. That setup served me well until 2004, when I could no longer hold back the digital tidal wave. One thing I miss is the effort that went into setting up shots and the suspense of not knowing whether they were good or bad until the packages of processed film were opened.
